Saturday was a Blank Canvas Artist Throwdown at the Fremont Solstice Fair. Teams of creative artist got together to create spontaneous and collaborative paintings all in one day, in one place, in the service of charity. We had 4 hours to finish a 4' x 4' canvas to auction off for Art with Heart. My team comprised of Doris Mosler - Collage and Mono Print Artist, Nina Seven - Decorated Card Artist for Starbucks, myself and Jill Wetzel - freelance artist framer.
Blank Canvas serves many local charities with funds donated from art auctions, our chosen charity on Saturday was Art with Heart, a charitable 501c3 nonprofit organization that creates and distributes therapeutic books and offers supportive trainings that are aimed at helping high-risk youth learn to manage their emotions and stress, and express their needs in healthy ways.
I had not had as much fun with paper, paint, glue and scissors in years!
