Direct mail educates landowners about wildfire
Nearly 30 percent of all forestlands in eastern Washington need treatment to become more resilient to insect infestation, disease, and wildfire. The Washington State Department of Natural Resources offers free property assessments to gauge wildfire readiness and teach recommended steps landowners can take to better protect their property. And they can help fund the work for qualified landowners through the Eastern Washington Cost-share Program.
The Washington State Department of Natural Resources Landowner Assistance Program turned to GA to develop direct mail letters and postcards, as well as social media outreach materials, to let private forest landowners know about funding available to implement forest health treatments to help prevent wildfire. GA also designed a website landing page where we directed people for more information.
For every $1 million spent on forest restoration, there is $5.7 million generated in economic returns.
