As more people move closer to wilderness areas in Washington State, black bears are losing habitat and gaining dangerous access to human food sources. This growing habituation has led to more bear-human encounters and, in some cases, the lethal removal of bears. Many residents were unaware that negligently feeding wildlife is against the law.
GA Creative partnered with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife to produce three short videos featuring wildlife experts. The videos educate residents on bear behavior, address safety concerns, and demonstrate how securing trash and other attractants protects both people and wildlife. The videos have been featured on local news programs and contributed to a noticeable reduction in calls for bear service, proving that awareness can lead to real-world impact.
